Our first nursery, Bee’s Knees Middleton, opened its doors in 2024. Since then, we’ve been welcoming your little ones in our extensive nursery and pre-school facilities.

We have a deep understanding of how your child’s age and environment changes the way they learn, so we’ve tailored each of our four rooms with maximum enrichment in mind. Middleton's dedicated Hive - free play room gives your child room to explore safely and make friends with children of all ages.

Today is World Internet Safety Day 🛜💻🖥️
The Sunflowers have read ‘Old Macdonald had a phone’ which tells how screen time can be used effectively and sensibly on the farm to solve problems.
The children enjoyed talking about what electronic devices are in their homes and how they use some with their grown ups 💛

Valentines cupcakes in Sprouts. Lily has invited the children to explore pink angel delight and practice scooping and pouring the mixture into the cupcake moulds! 🥄🥣
The children are also enjoying their new animal inset puzzles 🧩🦄

The Sunflowers are really enjoying their new home corner. These children love role play, dressing up and open ended resources so we’ve changed the room to meet their interests.
They’ve also been making love potions with real tea cups and saucers which encourages gentle and slower paced play ☕️

The Shoots have been making red and pink playdoh for Valentines Day.
They have a new topic shelf with lots of Valentines items to help them talk about their special people.
The children also completed a lotto game at circle time which encouraged lots of turn taking and praising their friends!

On Friday, The Shoots enjoyed reading ‘That’s not my owl’
Charlie wanted the children to feel all of the different textures mentioned in the story. The Shoots loved crumbling, scooping, stroking and pouring! 🦉

Valentines Disco with @thedotsandtotsco 💖❤️

Oh no, it’s a Gruffalo in the Sprouts room!!!! Another favourite book for our National Storytelling Week. Everyone enjoyed the “hands on” experience with the animals they found in the deep dark wood and repeating some of the famous phrases from the book. 🐭🐍🦊

Our book “The First book of Bugs” has been a great inspiration for the Sunflowers this week. The children have loved exploring all the mini beasts that were hidden in the spiderweb. 🕷️🕸️They took their time counting and used their “pincers” to pull the insects from the web. 🐝🐞🪰

All the children are enjoying sharing their favourite books, especially on National Storytelling Week. This morning in the Shoots room, the children have been enjoying the book “Room on the Broom” which is one of our children’s favourites.

We used spoons and scoops to mix a magic potion to save the witch and we talked about how full the pots and pans were. 🥄🥣🧑‍🍳.

Today, the Sprouts and Seedlings have been looking at the Smeds and the Smoods as part of National Story Telling Week. This was requested by one of our Sprouts families.
The children have explored red and blue paint with shaving foam to see if they could make purple just like Janet and Bill! 📚🎨🫟💙

The Sunflowers are really enjoying reading our book ‘A first book of bugs’ for National Storytelling Week. 📚
Everyone was fascinated with the poem called Monarch Butterflies and really wanted to share their own butterfly facts with their friends. They couldn’t wait to decorate their own butterflies using paints.🦋

The Sunflowers wrapped up warm and used our imagination and building skills to create an obstacle course in the garden. Of course then we had to test it with lots and jumping and balancing.

What a busy morning in The Shoots room! We have been exploring all of the textures in one of our favourite books “That’s not my Teddy”. The lemons in the water tray were a great success too as everyone loved scooping and pouring lemonade 🍋🫗

National Story Telling Week in Sprouts 🌱📚
We have a big ‘The Tiger Who Came For Tea’ fan in this room so Lily set up an invitation to make the tiger some tea! The children enjoyed listening to the story and then pouring cups of tea and offering different foods to the tiger and a baby! 🐅👶🏼🫖🍰🥫
The children love reading every day, so later they naturally gravitate to choose their favourite books to read 💛📚

National Story Telling Week in Shoots 🪴📚
A parent told us their child loves reading Spot the Dog an we know they also love colouring! Many children engaged in decorating Spot the Dog pictures and listening to the book with Freya 🐶
We have a lot of dinosaur fans in the Shoots Room so Charlie used one of the favourite books ‘Stompysaurus’ to set up an invitation to feed the dinosaurs and stomp them through the crunchy rice.

National Story Telling Week in Sunflowers 📚🌻
The Preschoolers have been following the @literacy_trust scheme and reading the book ‘A First Book of Bugs’. The first story was about worms!! 🪱
The children have been looking at different bugs on the iPad, colouring in one big collective worm and finding worms in the ‘mud’ in the tuff tray with tweezers.
The children also listened to a story about butterflies 🦋

We’ve had a huge interest in Barbies recently in the Sunflower room so the children have been using the magnetiles to build their homes. This sparked a lot of conversation about Shape and the homes they live in! This furthered discussion on similarities and differences 🏡🏠🔴🔺▪️

A 90s party! Lots of lights and lots of big tunes! 🎶🌈

For Looking and Listening this morning, The Shoots have been turn taking in a feely bag! They sang the ‘what’s in the bag’ song and chose an item. The children used describing words like ‘big, small, soft, hard, black, cold’ etc

Hot chocolate making in Sunflowers! ☕️🍫
This activity fosters fine motor skills, encourages patience through following steps, and provides a sensory-rich experience. It acts as a fun, hands-on learning opportunity that boosts confidence, encourages autonomy, and offers a cozy, comforting, and nutritious treat!

Since changing the books over in the Sunflower Room, the children have taken a liking to ‘the monkey with new blue bottom’! 🐒💙
Ney Ney and Jess set up an invitation to paint the animals and make marks / print with them. Lots of children chose to engage with this! 🎨
We also leave lots of children who love princesses so we have some new princess jigsaws which they enjoy building together 🧩👸🏻👑

The Sprouts have been exploring and building with coloured blocks - they’ve have counted the blocks and watched them fall down!
Lily extended this activity to secure and build on colour knowledge - swipe for a superstar! ⭐️🎨

Dinosaurs, Gruffalo story basket, new building resources, taking food orders and cooking in the kitchen!

Lots of new fine motor resources to also encourage colour recognition!
A shoots curriculum target is be do their zips as part of developing independence and Sunflowers sequentially work on buttons!
The children have especially liked the new building tubes!

The Sunflowers have been matching numerals to amounts, naming shapes and counting their sides. The children were further extended to see if they could count / recognise beyond 10! They all did so well 🔢🔷🟨🟢

Sprouts Stay and Play 🌱
It was so lovely to be joined by grandparents, daddies and mummies yesterday.
Lily led our circle time consisting of our hello song and signing ourselves in with our bees on the board & a looking and listening activity where we listened to an instruction, waited our turn and praised our friends. 👏🏻👶🏼🍼
We then enjoyed playing with toys of interest in the Hive and a pouring activity in the Sprouts room. We tipped cotton wool (to resemble snow) from jugs into cups and bowls to prepare the skill of pouring a drink in the Shoots room - this is an example of our sequential curriculum.
We also colour matched the jugs, cups and bowls and of course inevitably threw the snowballs - a great way to have fun and practice those gross motor skills!!

What a busy morning in the Sunflowers! We have been writing our names in the snow and discovering all of the winter animals that live there. All the children enjoyed using the snow play dough to create animals we had discovered.

The bonds we have with our families are so special and I’ll be forever grateful that you chose Bee’s Knees to trust us with your children.

Our Sunflower children have been desperate to go back to the garage to watch the mechanics work! They had a great visit this morning and loved seeing all the equipment and tools 🔧🔩🛞🚗

Our children have found a caterpillar and made it a home! What a coincidence, that on the same day @beeskneeseccles have done the same for a worm!
This prompted the children to talk about life cycles & past, present and future and what will happen to the caterpillar next.

A morning in Sunflowers.
They have been on a trip to the Library, we’ve had a full first day for one of our newly 3 year olds and a fab lunch time helper!

Children in the Shoots Room have been feeding the animals and choosing vehicles to mark make with.
The children stayed engaged for so long, moving the animals and tractors through the different textures and crumbling the materials in the hands from a height.

The Sunflowers have been looking for letters in their name and writing them on whiteboards, looking after babies in the Drs surgery and finding letters in the cereal tray.
They’re also covered in paint as they’ve been mark making to different tempo of music!

Aeroplane spotting, running, climbing, sliding, mixing, music making, throwing, rolling ….
The Sprouts love outside!! 🌱

We have taken inspiration from @beeskneeseccles and the Sunflowers have been on a bird watching expedition!
They used their checklists to mark off the birds they could see and discussed different sizes, colours and features! They saw lots of sparrows, blackbirds and magpies!
They also enjoyed their healthy snack and tree climbing!

The Sprouts have been mark making in shaving foam and paint. They loved mixing the textures together to create a wintery scene!
The children are also loving their new kitchen - opening and closing cupboards and rearranging the shelves.

This shows expression of preferences and decision making (some were a firm no 😂)

Supervised tooth brushing team🦷🪥
This scheme involves our trained staff in nursery overseeing our Shoots and Sunflowers brushing their own teeth daily with fluoride toothpaste, aiming to build lifelong habits, prevent decay, and improve oral health.
The scheme provides toothbrushes, appropriate toothpaste, and supervision, supplementing home brushing for better outcomes, especially in high-risk areas.

This room is perfect for free play, continuous provision, mixed age group playing and child led play opportunities.
The children are loving the new equipment and changes of areas 📚🔨🚧🧱🥄🍌🍎

The Sunflowers have also been busy in their new Doctor’s Surgery, exploring a winter sensory train track tuff tray and Theresa has been encouraging the children to count the ‘worms’ and strengthen their fine motor skills by picking them up with the tweezers to match the number on the dice 🎲❄️🚂🩺🩻🥼

As part of our Winter Topic, the Sunflowers have been exploring Winter Sports. This morning the Preschoolers took part in a Snowboarding simulator and got to experience all of the equipment. They had such a fun time!! 🏂

Hungry cats!!
We have a lot of cat families in the Sprout Room so Lily set up a cereal tray for some cats. The encouraged all the children to scoop the cereal and role play feeding them. We heard lots of singular words too! ‘Cat’ ‘meow’ ‘spoon’ ‘bowl’ ‘yum’
